Specializing in Play Therapy with children from age 6 older and their families.

Fred Rogers “Mr. Rogers Neighborhood” (Janet’s childhood hero):

“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning. But for children play is serious learning. Play is really the work of childhood.”

When children Experience Courage in play-based therapies, they thrive—and the adults in their lives gain valuable insights into how to understand and support their needs more effectively.

Janet Nordine, MS, LMFT, RPT-S, is one of the few Registered Play Therapist Supervisors (RPT-S) in private practice in Las Vegas, Nevada. With hundreds of hours of specialized training and clinical experience, Janet has honed a unique skill set that allows her to connect with children through their natural language of play. Her approach helps children express their inner worlds, emotions, and needs in a safe and supportive space. She views each child as a delight and works to make them feel safe, seen, and heard in every session. Janet also collaborates closely with parents to deepen their understanding of their children and to foster strong, meaningful attachments.

When conducted by a Registered Play Therapist, Play Therapy is much more than games and conversations. Janet sees the child’s play as a powerful expression of their sense of wonder and curiosity, allowing the child to lead and sometimes become the guide. Through their actions in play, children reveal their feelings, worries, hopes, and dreams. Janet finds it inspiring to witness children bring their authentic selves to the playroom and to see their worlds expand as they develop confidence in themselves, their emotions, and their relationships. Her goal is to recognize and honor the unique qualities of each child and every person she encounters.

What is a Registered Play Therapist (RPT)? Many therapists may incorporate play into their work with children, but earning the RPT designation requires extensive additional training and dedication. Janet has completed over 200 hours of specialized training—going well beyond the basics—to become an RPT.

The Association for Play Therapy describes play therapy as "a way of being with the child that honors their unique developmental level and helps in the 'language' of the child—play." Licensed mental health professionals use therapeutic play to support clients in expressing themselves and resolving their challenges.

Play therapy is most effective when a trusting relationship is formed between the Registered Play Therapist and the child, allowing the child to express openly both the joys and difficulties in their lives through play.

If you’re seeking a specialist to support your child’s unique needs, please contact Janet to schedule a complimentary 20-minute consultation session.
